Sint Maarten, it is the portion of the Monarchy of the Netherlands. Philipsburg is the capital of St. Martin.
The island is mountainous and the valleys are scattered. Some mountains are thin and dense. The highest point on the French side is Pic Paradis, which is 424 m above sea level. The Great Salt Pond used to be the source of salt for most of Europe. Today it is mainly used to buffer rainwater. There are no major rivers or streams on the island.

The popular Red Bay of St. Martin is named after the slightly reddish sand. The larger rock arches make this beach a unique attraction. Here, visitors can soak up the sun on the red sand, play in the warm water, and even swim under the arches to find another smaller private beach on the other side. Orient Bay Orient Bay is located on the east side of the French island and is one of the many beautiful beaches of Saint Martin. Oriental Bay is often referred to as the "Saint Tropez" beach on the Caribbean Sea and is one of the largest and most popular beaches on the island. The restaurant Le Soleil is named after the sun, which is on the large outdoor terrace for most of the day. The outdoor dining room of Le Soleil restaurant is one of the most beautiful places to eat. This room is reminiscent of the Greek islands under a white-painted wooden awning with dark blue accents.
