The Danube is the longest river in Romania. It crosses Romania on approximately 1,075 kilometers. Almost all rivers in Romania are direct or indirect tributaries of the Danube. Romania's rivers flow from the Carpathians to the north, south, east or west. Rain and other rainfall promote the flow of water in every river and occasionally cause flooding. To the east, the Siret and Prut rivers receive water from the river. In the south the river flows directly into the Danube. In the west the river flows into the Hungarian Tisza. The Romanian capital and business center are vibrant. The Sphinx and Babele are two frequently visited natural rock formations. The layers caused by wind and rain are about 10 minutes apart and the height is over 2,000 meters. The painted monastery in Bukovina is really a unique attraction. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the outer walls of some monasteries were painted with colorful wall paintings.
